This year’s Christmas design trends are focused on three central themes – Rustic Woodlands, Storybook Reds and Tranquil Silvers.
The Rustic Woodlands theme embraces all things winter – it’s about bringing the outdoors in, with carved natural wood decorative features, garlands of holly and pine cones, and a woodland animal theme when it comes to accessories – think owls and stags. Variety in textures allows this look to come to life – chunky knits, faux furs and burlap side by side create a cosy and homely feel this winter.
Storybook Reds are all about recreating that Christmas magic from our childhoods. Achieve this look by teaming a traditional red and gold colour scheme with modern Scandinavian design. Bold prints are what make this look work – tartan, herringbone and fairisle prints work perfectly. Soft, subtle lighting with carved wooden lanterns and decorative candle jars teamed with neutral creams and browns create a vintage inspired festive feel.
This season’s Tranquil Silvers look is all about relaxation – a subtle colour palette of chalky tones with soft white fairy lights and lots of candles effortlessly produce a relaxed environment in the home. Silver accessories from tree decorations to tableware reflect the soft lighting and calm even the busiest of homes this Christmas.
